Kent Rail Ale Trail.

The Micropub Rail Guide

Picture
Whilst many traditional pubs have closed in recent years, new micropubs seem to open every few days.  The micropub revolution began in Kent, and the county boasts a greater density than anywhere in the UK.  Micropubs offer a simple service of great beer, usually with a selection of ciders, wines and snacks, in quiet and unpretentious surroundings.

The rail service in Kent provides the ideal opportunity to explore many of the county's micropubs.  The trains from London take a circular route that follows the Thames and continues around its coast.  All included micropubs are within easy walking distance of the stations (up to 10 minutes unless indicated, with the closest pub listed first), and Hotels and B&Bs are readily available along the route. Feed the postcode into Google Maps when you arrive to find the quickest route.

There are many other great pubs nearby, and many micropubs that are not included simply due to their location, so hopefully this guide will give you the thirst to explore further in the future.
